Lions International Youth Exchange Report

We are currently seeking HOST FAMILIES to participate in the International Lions Youth Exchange Program. Our district is responsible for hosting ~5 international youth of which we currently have a firm commitment for 1 so far. Hosting involves integrating an international youth (age 16-21) into your home for about 4-5 weeks (of which one week the youth spend at our international youth exchange camp in Dundee Wisconsin). Hosting usually occurs through the month of July. A list of international youth applicants is available at the Wisconsin Lions International Youth Exchange Program web site. The applications are password protected so please contact me directly (contact info below) and I will guide you to the applications.

Outgoing Youth: The Youth Exchange Committee awarded six $800 scholarships this year to youth that met our district 27-D1 scholarship requirements.

Finances/Budget
So far this year (09-10), we've collected $4695.00 directly from club donations. Our total account balance is $9778 which includes carryover from previous years. Our budgeted expenses include our portion of the International Youth Exchange Camp Cost (1/10th of the total costs =total divided by each lions district) $1700, 6 - $800 scholarships ($4800) and possibly 5 x $200 ($1000) host family grants.

Total estimated cost for district 27-D1 09-10 International Youth Exchange Program = $7500.00

Our district committee has 4 representatives: Terry Miller, Rob Perkins, Dave Peltier and Ben August. It is a pleasure serving on this committee and participating in a program that satisfies the first objective of the Lions "To create and foster a spirit of understanding among peoples of the world"
